PostSubject: Thank A Soldier   Fri May 07, 2010 4:10 pm

To: Members in Thank A Soldier
Some inspiration for your day!

In 1994 I was involved in an attack by several people and stabbed numerous times on my back and two serious wounds on my left leg which left severe muscle damage to my upper thigh. For years I had problems with it and used to have to get up and move around if sitting for long periods of time and spent many nights with sever muscle cramps in my leg.

For too many years I used this injury as an excuse to be lazy and then I met a few people who gave me the biggest wake up call I have ever gotten. First of all MCpl Jody Mitic who lost both his legs in Afghanistan after stepping on a IED and is one of the most inspirational people I have ever met.

I met Michael Hornburg from St. Louis (Father of one of our fallen Canadian Soldiers CPL Nathan Hornburg also was a dual American/Canadian Citizen) who started “LOOPS FOR TROOPS” in his memory Nathan was killed in action while serving his country in Afghanistan.

Please view my YouTube video I have made in relation to this event:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=beg8ovdrlxY

After my incident in 1994 doctors told me I’d probably never be able to walk long distances for the rest of my life and that my injuries would be something “I would have to learn to deal with” well that was then, this is now.

I am very excited to announce that I will be Running in the 5KM run on Sunday June 20th on Fathers Day in the Loops for Troops. This is a very big deal for me and it goes to show that when someone tells you that you’ll never do something don’t give up. For the last 16 years I used my injury as an excuse a lot of the time and seeing MCpl Jody Mitc and how he has overcome his injuries suffered in Afghanistan and all other wounded warriors who never give up the fight is something I will be thankful for .

You can read my full write up on my blog:

And if you are interested in sponsoring me in this run you can go directly to the site:

FROM NOW until June 20th, all proceeds from the sale of our T-Shirts will be going to this event:

Enter the Code : Loops4troops to save 10%

This is a big deal for me as for years I dealt with the pain and suffering those injuries caused me but I'm hoping by posting this it may inspire others to do something similar. There will also be events happening with coalition forces on the same day in both IRAQ & Afghanistan.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.
