Dear Supporters!

Thank you for signing the Committed to a Cure petition to get medical insurance coverage for genetic testing for breast cancer. With your help we have acquired over 3.6 million signatures!!! (That’s 1.6 million more than we hoped for...)

Now, my sister and I and thousands of supporters are headed to Washington D.C.! We're going to participate in a major breast cancer event and while we're there we're going to hand deliver these signatures to the steps of the department of Health and Human Services, as well as to Senator Joe Lieberman on

My sister Christine and I are among the many thousands affected by breast cancer. Christine is a survivor still in treatment and I am someone who, like many thousands that have a history of breast cancer our families, is unable to afford breast cancer genetic marker screening. It is deemed a novelty by insurance companies. We disagree. We hope that this petition will start a productive discussion between our government and medical insurance companies regarding genetic testing as an early detection tool in breast cancer screening, detection, prevention and treatment.

Hello Petitioners!!

I thank you all SO much for your support for this petition to have genetic testing for families affected by breast cancer!

On June 7, 2010, we delivered the petition, signed by all of you, to the offices of Congressman Joe Wilson, Senator Joe Lieberman, Senator Lindsay Graham, Senator Patty Murray and the H.E.L.P (Health, Education, Labor & Pension) Committee! Unfortunately, Secretary Sebelius' office was unable to make time to see us. However, Congressman Wilsons office contacted us to let us know they made certain that our letter and a copy of the petition were delivered to the Dept. of HHS, more specifically, Secretary Sebelius. We thank them for the help!

On June 6, 2010, as promised, we placed your footprints on the steps of the Capitol building to make your commitment known! Many people stopped to ask what we were doing. We explained what we were trying to accomplish and we met a very nice couple who signed our petition!
