PostSubject: Join The Movement To Stop Diabetes !!!   Fri May 14, 2010 6:18 am

The time to break these chains is today. Right now, Diet V8 Splash® will donate $10 for every person who joins the movement to Stop DiabetesSM, up to $50,000.

This money will go to support crucial diabetes research. It will fund educational outreach to both young and old. And it will continue the fight so nobody's rights are denied because they have diabetes.

Don’t wait. Join Lisa and the hundreds of thousands of people like her who have taken action to help change the future of this deadly disease.

851,040 - Between the day this movement started on October 29, 2009 and today, this is how many of our friends, family members and colleagues have been diagnosed with diabetes. That's one person every 20 seconds. Join the movement and Stop Diabetes now.

Help raise awareness, research funds, and hope by donating what you can, including your time.
Give to the American Diabetes Association

PostSubject: Critical diabetes funding program needs your support !!!   Fri May 14, 2010 6:21 am

Each year, the Special Diabetes Program gives hope to millions of Americans with diabetes.

This program is the single largest funding source for research to cure or prevent the complications of type 1 diabetes and has also led to demonstrated and continued improvements in type 2 prevention and care.

Before the Special Diabetes Program expires next year we need to make sure Congress understands its importance and makes reauthorizing it a priority.

Let Rep. Owens and Sen. Gillibrand and Sen. Schumer know that you are counting on them to support the reauthorization of the Special Diabetes Program.

The Special Diabetes Program would reauthorize the Special Statutory Funding Program for Type 1 Diabetes Research at the National Institutes of Health for the next five years and expand the funding from $150 million to $200 million each year. This program has already led to important breakthroughs: new drug therapies and effective treatments capable of stopping and even reversing diabetic complications.

The bill will also reauthorize the Special Diabetes Program for Indians (SDPI) at the Indian Health Service in the Department for Health and Human Services for the next five years with the same increase in funding. This will ensure continued funding for high-risk Native American communities, providing them with the resources and tools they need to prevent and treat type 2 diabetes.

The Special Diabetes Program allows us to make great strides in increasing our understanding of how to treat, prevent and, hopefully, one day find a cure for diabetes.

You know what this kind of research can mean to millions of children and adults affected by diabetes: the difference between dying far too young and living a full life or between losing a limb and saving one.

So tell your Members of Congress: The work is not yet done. Pledge to reauthorize the Special Diabetes Program.

The Special Diabetes Program is a powerful investment in the health and future of Americans living with diabetes. Thank you for all you're doing to let Congress know that this is an investment we can't afford to pass up.

Nash Childs, PE

Sincerely,
Nash Childs, PE

PostSubject: Re: Join The Movement To Stop Diabetes !!!   Mon May 17, 2010 7:20 pm

This week, the House Appropriations Subcommittee held a hearing on how much money to devote to medical research and prevention, including funding for diabetes.

As the chair of the American Diabetes Association's Advocacy Committee, I was privileged to testify to urge Members of Congress to make the right decision for over 80 million Americans with diabetes or pre-diabetes. But we need your help to make sure they hear my message.

I have lived with diabetes for over 30 years and like many of you and your loved ones, I depend on this research for a cure and, until then, improved treatments to manage my diabetes.

The challenge of staying healthy is already ever-present in the life of everyone living with diabetes. One of the biggest challenges we face as the diabetes epidemic grows faster than ever is that research funding for cures and prevention is NOT growing accordingly.

Help us flood the inboxes of Members of Congress with letters supporting increased diabetes research and prevention funding. Send your letter now!

With your help, we'll make sure Congress knows the diabetes epidemic is growing – and it is expensive. We'll give them the cold, hard truth: approximately one out of every five health care dollars is spent caring for someone with diagnosed diabetes.

Thank you for helping people with diabetes get access to the care they need.

Sincerely,

Janel Wright

PostSubject: Thanks for your enthusiasm!!!!!!!!   Tue Jun 01, 2010 4:07 pm

Just a few weeks ago, we asked you to join the Stop DiabetesSM movement and encourage your loved ones to become involved too.

The stakes were high. Diet V8 Splash®️ agreed to donate $10 for every person who joined the movement, up to $50,000. That’s $50,000 for research, education and advocacy efforts.

In just 5 days, you helped us to reach that goal. And for this, we are very grateful.

Thanks to all of you who responded with such enthusiasm. We appreciate your actions to help us Stop Diabetes once and for all.

And special thanks to Diet V8 Splash, whose $50,000 donation will help to change the future of diabetes.

New research, advanced therapies and better treatment options that will affect your health – either tomorrow or down the road – will be presented June 25-29 at the world’s largest meeting on diabetes.

The American Diabetes Association will play host to more than 13,500 scientists, physicians and other health care professionals from around the world. More than 700 speakers and almost 2,000 research posters will present the latest in research and treatment information at this year’s Scientific Sessions in Orlando, Florida.
