OFFICIAL RULES OF THE WEDDING & PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHERS INTERNATIONAL PHOTOGRAPHY COMPETITION:

The First Half International Photography Competition opens June 30th and ends July 30th.

To enter your submissions electronically, please visit www.wppionline.com/competitions.aspx to register. Once the registration process has been completed, you will receive an e-mail confirmation. Simply log into the website and follow the online instructions to upload images from your computer.
Uploaded image files must be minimally compressed 8-bit RGB JPEGs in either Adobe RGB or sRGB color space. The images must be 100 ppi and the longest dimension cannot exceed 1000 pixels. See example below.
Each submitted photograph, in its entirety, must be a single work of original material taken by the member entrant. By entering the contest, entrant represents, acknowledges and warrants that the submitted photograph is an original work created solely by the entrant, that the photograph does not infringe on the copyrights, trademarks, moral rights, rights of privacy/publicity or intellectual property rights of any person or entity, and that no other party has any right, title, claim or interest in this photograph.
If the photograph includes people, you must be prepared to provide a signed written personal release from all persons who appear in the photograph submitted, authorizing use of the photograph. You do not need to send the release with your entry; we will contact you if a model release is needed.
To qualify for the International Photography competition, each entry must: a) be taken by a member of Wedding & Portrait Photographers International and b) be recent—not more than two years old.
WPPI members may submit as many entries in as many categories as they wish; however an entry cannot be entered in more than one category.
The cost for each entry is $15, payable by credit card or online check.

Applicants agree that WEDDING & PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHERS INTERNATIONAL may use any entered photograph or RANGEFINDER PUBLISHING, in any of its publications, printed materials or electronic media, such as but not limited to any of their web sites or their affiliates’ web sites. Model releases must be available for all recognizable individuals in submitted photos. Do not submit these releases unless requested.
Identifying marks or signatures are not permitted on the front of your digital entry. Any entry with a signature or studio logo that can be seen by the judges will be automatically disqualified.
Competition deadline for the first half of 2010 will be July 30, 2010. Award winners for both the first and second half competitions will be announced in the WPPI MONTHLY E-NEWSLETTER. The four annual award winners will be selected from first place award-winning entries in both periods. Four International Print of the Year Awards will be presented at the WPPI 2011 Convention and Trade Show for the following categories: Wedding, Portrait, Commercial and Photojournalism.
Qualified members of WPPI will judge entry photographs in the competition for photographic artistry and craftsmanship. The decision of the judges is final.
Rules for this contest may be changed or modified without notice.
1) You may submit an image to the International Photography Competition and the Awards of Excellence 16x20 competition but you may not submit the same image twice in the International Photography competitions.
WPPI SCORING SYSTEM FOR COMPETITIONS
Scores of 80 or above will receive an Accolade of Excellence point (1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners will receive an additional point).

100 Exemplary - Best possible use of all skills and creativity: new, fresh, and unique
95-99 Superior - Approaching the highest standard in imagination, creativity and technique
90-94 Outstanding - Exhibiting exceptional skills in all areas
85-89 Excellent - Very good use of imagination, skill & technique
80-84 Above Average - Good standard of professional skill, creativity, and technique
76-79 Average - Average professional skill and technique
70—75 Below Average - Requires improvement in technique
