Leagues are played in the form of multiple Sit-N-Gos over a week or more. The winner is determined by the best overall results of all the games played by an individual player.
To play, first you must select a league and register to it from the Available Leagues Page. Once you are registered with a league and that league is running ("Open") then you can find the associated league tables in the software game lobby under the "Leagues" section.
Games will run 24 hours a day and each registered league member will play the allotted number of games (usually 5). The games will be single table tournaments (10 people) or multi-table tournaments (number of tables varies per league, usually between 200 and 300).
For every game you play you will be awarded a score based on your finishing position. The higher the better, obviously. After you have played all the allotted games you will be given an average of all your previous scores, which determines your overall league ranking.
Just like in normal poker tournaments your final ranking then determines your prize amount.
How are the scores calculated?
Very simply: you are given 10 points just for taking part, and then you get 10 more points for each person you outlast in the tournament. For example:
30 person multi-table tournament, you finish 5th: (25 x 10) + 10 = 260 points.
For single table, 10 seat, tournament you would get 100 for 1st place, 90 for second, and so on down to 10 points for last place:
Position 1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th 6th 7th 8th 9th 10th
Points 100 90 80 70 60 50 40 30 20 10
Using the points you earn during a game your league score is then calculated based on the total number of games you have played. If you have not yet played the minimum number of qualifying games for the league it is taken as an average of this. For example:
In 5 game league Bill plays 3 games and scores 40, 50 and 60 points in each game. His current score would be:
(40 + 50 + 60) / 5 = 30
Note: in this scenario Bill has played only 3 games whereas the league is a 5 game league. Therefore if the league were to end then Bill would not qualify for the prizes because he has not played 5 (or more) games.
In the same league Bill now has played 5 games and scored 50 in each of the extra games (he now qualified for the prizes). His current score would be:
(40 + 50 + 60 + 50 + 50) / 5 = 50
In the same league Bill now has played 8 games and scored 50, 80 and 100 in each of the extra games (he now qualified for the prizes). His current score would be:
(40 + 50 + 60 + 50 + 50 + 50 + 80 + 100) / 8 = 60
In the event of tied score the player who has played the most number of games is ranked higher. If the same number of games are played then the prize pool is split accordingly.
How do I register to play in a league?
You may subscribe to a league through the website, you must first pick a league from the Available Leagues Page.
You can then click the name of the league on that page to see further details and a "Register Button". There are many free leagues, and any entry fee on the other leagues goes 100% towards the final prizepool. Various leagues are available, though some are privately run and may require an invitation to enter.
